I want to share this wonderful nautical theme baby shower I styled for my cousin and her family’s newest crew member, Mateo! When my cousin’s husband asked me to make a surprise baby shower for her, I was very happy and excited. As a party stylist, I wanted to throw her the most special baby shower! He then told me she had mentioned that she wanted to take maternity pictures on the beach. So that’s how we came up with the idea of doing a nautical theme baby shower. The color scheme pallet for the shower consists of navy blue, whites and different blues to create the illusion of bringing the ocean to life. While summer is shifting away, this nautical theme baby shower is perfect for a little gathering before a new season starts. So welcome aboard and enjoy the fun!

Let’s sail to the sea with this nautical themed tablescape!

My tablescape included blue and white stripe tablecloths, burlap runners, fishnets, sailboat, shells, starfish, and I decided to get a bit creative by making a DIY candle holder as well. It was really fast and easy to put together. After my table decor base was done, I placed down some navy blue plastic dinner plates along with white anchor paper plates, clear wine glasses and silverware. Did you notice the star napkins from last summer’s tablescape? (4th of July Backyard BBQ Party) These star napkins I used are not only for patriotic holidays, but they also work well in a nautical themed table setting too, or anything really! We just need to be creative and mix things up. It’s always a good idea to find new ways to use things we already have whenever it is possible. I pulled out my DIY , Jute Rope Napkin Rings, for today’s table and in no time you have a true nautical tablescape.

This sailboat makes the perfect centerpiece to set sail for our high sea adventure!

Ahoy its a boy!

For my backdrop, I used an ocean with dolphins scene, that my sister and her husband gave me as a gift when I went to visit them in our home town Puerto Vallarta. This was the perfect time to bring out all my beach themed decor that I collected during my trips to Mexico and bring my inspiration to life.

Balloons garlands is an excellent way to create a focal point for your event!

I completed this balloon garland by mixing all the different blues and leaving the white balloons on the bottom for the illusion of waves braking, as it moves over a shallow bottom. I then placed a barrel that I had at home and threw a fishnet over it. I also glued some starfish to the barrel and attached a wooden ship wheel to set sail for our high sea adventure! The best part was that the barrel served as a main table to display the beautiful cake, lighthouse and some sweet yogurt treats.

By adding two more small tables, I was able to include my sail boat gelatin and some white donuts to represent some rescue wheels. I then placed a big shell and filled it with cashews, giving my treats a nice nautical feel.

I can’t even begin to tell you how thankful I am that we were able to pull off this shower in 3 weeks. My cousin Nuvia was GLOWING and never stopped smiling.

I loved the way this party turned out, with all this COVID going on, we still managed to keep it safe and make her day very special.
