The Deep Scan Mission is part of the content that’s making its way to Deep Rock Galactic with Season 5. A lot of the new content for Drilling Deeper is showcased quite well in this mission. These new dangers can be quite challenging to overcome.
As the name implies, you’ll be making a series of Deep Scans before escaping with some precious cargo. So, we’ll be looking at how you can complete the main objectives for the Deep Scan Mission in this guide.
Deep Scan Mission Guide
The Deep Scan Mission in Deep Rock Galactic will require you to follow some important steps if you want to complete it. Here are the steps to complete the main objectives:
- Perform Deep Scans by locating Resonance Crystals
- Activate the Drillevator
- Descend to the Morkite Geodes
- Harvest Morkite Seeds
- Escape Using Extraction Jet Boots
Locate Resonance Crystals
When you spawn in the Deep Scan mission, you’ll find that the main objective requires you to perform Deep Scans. You will need to perform 3 to 5 Deep Scans, depending on the mission length you have selected.
For each Deep Scan, you will need to locate a Resonance Crystal.
To locate the Resonance Crystal, you can use the Resonance Target Proximity scanner on the top left of your screen. It will tell you how close you are to the nearest Resonance Crystal.
The faster and longer the meter fills up, the closer you are to the Resonance Crystal. So, use it as a guide to locate it for the Deep Scan objective.
When you are near a Crystal, the meter will start to look like something shown in the image below. If you are above or below it, the meter will show that you are less than 40 meters away.
You should also be able to hear a low tingling sound. So dig away until you have finally unearthed the Resonance Crystal.
Perform Deep Scan
Now that you have found the Resonance Crystal, it is time to perform a Deep Scan. Simply approach the crystal and you’ll see the prompt to Request Scanning Equipment by holding E.
Once the Scanner arrives, connect it to the crystal with the cable. After the connection is complete, you will have performed a single Deep Scan.
Repeat the process now for the rest of the Deep Scans until you’ve completed the mission objective.
Activate The Drillevator
Once the Deep Scans objective is complete, a Drillevator will automatically be called in a nearby area. The Drillevator is a new tool that was introduced as part of the Drilling Deeper season.
It works similarly to a drop pod in Deep Rock Galactic and can be scanned from the map. Below is an image of the Drillevator that you should be going for.
After locating the Drillevator, you’ll need to activate it. You can do this by pressing the 4 outer buttons on the Drilleavtor platform. You’ll need to hold E to turn on each of the buttons.
Be ready for a battle as enemies will start attacking you once the Drillevator is activated.
Descend To The Morkite Geodes
Now that the Drillevator is activated, it’ll start digging through the ground and descending below. Additionally, swarms of enemies will start attacking you from above.
The Drillevator is the only moving platform in Deep Rock Galactic that turrets and shields can stick to. So, use this to your advantage to defend yourself for the Deep Scan mission.
During the descent, the Drillevator will stall and stop moving as the outer buttons degrade. So, you’ll need to maintain the 4 outer buttons to ensure that the Drilleavtor continues to move. You can do this by holding the E button.
Eventually, the Drilleavtor will reach the Morkite Geodes for the last part of the Deep Scan mission.
Harvest Morkite Seeds
Once you reach the Morkite Geodes, you’re ready to complete the next objective. You’ll have to harvest and collect a total of 7 Morkite Seeds.
You can do this by approaching the green crystal clusters that are stuck on the walls of the Morkite Geode. Use your pickaxe to break the clusters and the Morkite Seed will drop out of it. So, in total, you’ll need to do this 7 times.
Keep in mind that Morkite Seeds are deposited in the M.U.L.E, and not the Drilleavtor in Deep Rock Galactic.
Escape Using Extraction Jet Boots
After you’ve collected and deposited on the Morkite Seeds, it’s time to go to the Drop Pod. You can get there by making your way to the Drillevator. On the Drillevator, you’ll find 4 Extraction Jet Boots that you use by holding E.
These Jet Boots can allow you to fly up through the hole created by the Drillevator really quickly. Use them to escape. After that, make your way to the Drop Pod to complete the Deep Scan Mission in Deep Rock Galactic.
And that’s all for you to do to complete the Deep Scan Mission in Deep Rock Galactic. Be careful though, as there are many more dangers added as part of the new season.
