Really the only limitation is your imagination! In saying that choose a material to work with that isn’t too heavy and one that will wear well. Paper, for example, can be used to make all sorts of fun decorations but wouldn’t last very well as a hair clip so avoid anything like that.
Today we are not using anything complicated at all. Instead, we have decided to opt for ready-made decorations. Ready-made decorations can be found in many different places. Try your local craft or dollar store or shop online to secure a great bargain.
Our Hair Clips
With Valentine’s Day approaching I thought it would be a nice surprise for our girls if I made them some new hair clips. I don’t know about you but we seem to have a constant shortage of hair clips! These hair clips were made in a matter of minutes, they really are that quick and easy to make.
You Will Need
There are only a few items that you need in order to make your own hair clips. Clips, decorations, and glue.
Clips
Firstly a clip. This is what you will be sticking your decoration onto. There is a range of different clip options that you can buy. They can all be decorated basically in the same way so select a clip that suits your child and the decoration that you are wanting to use. The larger the decoration the larger the clip needed. Decorations
There is a large range of decorations available to purchase that are suitable for making hair clips. These decorations often come in bulk packs so you can make multiple hair clips at a time. Here are some of our favorite hair clip decorations:

Hot Glue Gun
Finally, you need something to stick the decoration onto the hair clip. We used a hot glue gun for this. Hot glue guns make projects like this quick and easy to do.
How To Make
Gather all of your supplies. You will need a hot glue gun, hair clips and hair clip decorations.
Place a strip of hot glue onto the back of your decoration, about the length of your hair clip. Carefully place the hair clip clasp onto the decoration and hold for a few seconds.
Put aside and continue until you have made all of your hair clips.
These hair clips make lovely gifts or are perfect to sell at markets. Quick and easy to make, once you start you will never go back to buying expensive hair clips again!
