GOODWELL, Okla. - The Oklahoma City softball team picked up two more wins on Thursday as Emersen Heron went yard for the fourth straight game in game one before Kamryn Garvie and Baileigh Loux combined for six RBIs in game two pushing the Stars winning steak to 17 straight games.

Oklahoma City 16 - Oklahoma Panhandle State 0

The win improves OCU to 35-2 on the year (25-1 in the SAC). The loss drops Oklahoma Panhandle State to 15-22 (12-13 in the Sooner Athletic Conference).

Kamryn Garvieopened the scoring for Oklahoma City in the top of the first with an RBI double to centerfield to bring home Kaitlyn Jones.

Although being held scoreless, OCU broke the game wide open in the fourth inning with a six-run frame and continued to pour on nine more runs in the top of the fifth.

In the fourth, Emersen Heron and Tara Hoehner got things going with back-to-back RBI doubles while Amy Crabaugh and Kaitlyn Jones used RBI singles to help grow the lead.

The big hit in the fourth came on a sacrifice fly from Iliana Ashford as Crabaugh came into score along with Tiffany Paul scoring on a throwing error.

The Stars did even more in the fifth with its third-highest run total in a single inning this year with nine beginning with Heron's second double of the day.

The Stars added four hits that brought in one run each along with Kaylee Witte driving in her fourth run of the year on an error by the second basem*n. Heron capped off the big inning with a three-run shot, her fourth RBI of the inning and fifth of the game.

Heron finished game one 3-for-4 and tied a season-high five RBIs including going deep for the fourth straight game and a team-leading 12th time this season.

Oklahoma City's top three batters in the lineup had one hit each while Amy Crabaugh joined Heron with a multi-hit game going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Four Stars had multiple RBIs including Heron (5), Ashford (3), Crabaugh (2), and Jones (2).

Shelbey Cornelson tossed her sixth consecutive shutout in five innings of work while allowing four hits and struck out nine improving to 15-2 on the year.

The victory for the Stars was the fifth straight shutout win and the 14th time Oklahoma City has scored double-digit runs.


Oklahoma City 12 - Oklahoma Panhandle State 1

The win improves OCU to 36-2 on the year (25-1 in the SAC). The loss drops the Aggies to 15-23 overall (12-14 in the SAC).

After going scoreless through the first two innings, Oklahoma City went on to score in each of the next four frames as Kamryn Garvie got the Stars off to a hot start with an RBI double to center field.

The very next at-bat helped break things open as BaileighLoux cleared the bases with her eighth home run of the season and was followed up by an RBI double from freshman Tara Hoehner to cap off the four-run inning.

Kaitlyn Jones and Loux gave the Stars two more runs in the fourth as Jones used a single to score Rally Radacy before Loux provided her third RBI of the game with a double into centerfield.

Tiffany Paul provided the lone run in the fifth with her sixth home run of the season before the Stars saw its biggest inning come in the sixth by putting up five more runs highlighted by Garvie's 11th home run of the season and finished off with a Kindalyn Miller double, her ninth of the year bringing in Hoehner for the 12th run of the ball game.

Emersen Heron got the start inside the circle and improved to 16-0 on the year while giving up one run on four hits in six innings of work to go along with two strikeouts and one walk.

Oklahoma City hit three home runs along with eight doubles while six Stars had multiple base hits and four had multiple RBIs.

The top four batters in the Stars lineup carried the weight with all having two or more hits and combining for eight RBIs. Rally Radacy and Kaitlyn Jones finished the game going 2-for-4 while the leadoff hitter Radacy cashed in her sixth double of the season and currently sits third on the team with 44 runs scored after crossing the plate twice in game two.

Jones converted her ninth double of the season to go along with two RBIs while having a game-high three runs scored.

Kamryn Garvie came within one of Emersen Heron with her 11th home run of the year after going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and her ninth double of the year.

Baileigh Loux led the way by going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs scored, a home run, and two doubles. Loux holds the team lead in hits (59) and runs scored (46).

The win pushes OCU's winning streak to 17 games while the pitching and defense have not allowed an opponent to score more than two runs since USAO did it on Mar. 15.

The two teams will square off twice more tomorrow in a doubleheader that begins at noon.
