Synopsis

Perfume saleslady Melody Parris feels like her life is in neutral. Her stick-in-the mud boyfriend won't commit and she gets passed over for a promotion at the store where she works. She decides to make a Christmas list. After it's deposited in Santa's mailbox at the store, she starts getting everything she wanted, but it doesn't always turn out as she expected.

A perfume counter sales woman in an unhappy relationship unwittingly sends Santa her Christmas list and to her surprise her wishes start to come true!

She helps a random kid buy perfume for his dead mom and he later wins a raffle and decides to share a mustang convertible with her and his hot Dr dad? How the f you share a car with a stranger?

And if I knew my Xmas list was coming true I'd be way more specific with my list than a new bf and clothes lol. This was super cheesy holiday fluff. Girl honestly should have just got the puppy she wanted in the beginning 🤷‍♀️

Iconic. Ridiculous. Nuanced. So good. And the commercials on our VHS recording are so entertaining too. Classic.

The beginning and ending song. The piano music. The silly cuts. The looks. The names - Melody Parris & April May. The line readings. The LINES.

“You’re the sun of his solar system, Danny. Without you, he couldn’t even grow moss.”

So many running jokes and phrases that have stuck.

“They call me the nose for gods sake!”

Like the golden girls on repeat as a baby this changed my life.

In all seriousness, I love that we don’t see the love interests until after the first commercial. I love that she gets away from her boyfriend who is so upsetting to me…

She should have gotten the puppy instead of the boyfriend 🙄

I mean, damn! Isn’t it just the best made-for-TV Christmas movie of all? ;)

  • Review by Anthony ★★★★★

This film is so corny, and sugar sweer, and cliched, but you know what? I f*cking love this movie more than some best picture winners.

  • Review by Mandy ★★★★★

Nah I’ve been f*cking with this for over 25 years and I still end up with a smile on my face.

    Long love Melody Parris.

We should all be so lucky to have a friend like Naomi.

Best Xmas tv movie of all time.

It has every Christmas rom movie trope you need: fantastical element (in this case a magical list), terrible partner, supportive friend, successful widower with their own bad partner and a wisened kid who is hoping their parent will give the ok to the right Xmas loving down home ding dong.

But this is something us laymen can relate to. Melody Parris is a perfume counter lady at a department store. Yes, she has a particular knack for it; she’s deemed “the nose”, but her boss is a dick,as well as her coworkers. They can’t see (or smell) her talent and when they realize it, she’s banished to the stockroom. Parris’ dream is attainable, she’s a modern day Cinderella and she will rise above it, just as we all can.

    Btw, this is on Youtube.

It just wouldn’t be Christmas without this gem! ;)

    “Hasta la vista, Faithy!”

This movie is so cheesy, but I love it.

A really enjoyable Christmas film that is kinda forgotten now.Mimi Rogers plays a very likeable woman with desires and ambition which I love in a woman. She is a gorgeous actress always has been and always will be.The rest of the cast works too except for her BF in the film who is cliche and lame.Overall fun for the holidays.

  • Review by Eric Browning ★★★★★

This is like my cult classic of the made-for-TV Christmas movies. It has been a yearly rewatch at our house since I was a kid when it first came out and we still get it out every year to laugh at how fun and cheesy it is. Is it good? No. Is it incredibly fun and enjoyable? Absolutely. Mimi Rogers is a hoot and I will always love this one.

There’s something special about the ABC Family branding on the pirated DVD my dad got my mom that makes this movie great
